2022 has begun, which means there’s a whole new set of trends to follow for your wedding this year! Whether you’re planning a wedding in the heat of summer or the chill of winter, these trends are for all seasons. When it comes to colors and decorating, there isn’t a singular trend, but rather a handful of ideas and inspiration that other brides are following. So, if one trend isn’t your style, another one certainly could be!

Flower Power

Brides can’t get enough of floral décor! The rise of cottagecore has heavily impacted the use of flowers in wedding decorations. Flowers have always been popular centerpieces, but softer colors and woodsy-style décor pieces to compliment them are on the rise. Wedding arches are also quite popular, and many brides are wrapping flowers around theirs to create a secret garden atmosphere. Dried flowers are also a rising trend as they create a softer appearance, whether they’re used for décor or the bride’s bouquet.

Bold Colors

Here’s where the different styles come in: bold colors are also a popular choice for floral arrangements! Warm and vibrant colors are used as centerpieces and in flowerpots around the venue. Coral, for example, is a trendy color at the moment. These colors can also be used for invitations, tablecloths, and cake frosting.

Non-Traditional Desserts

Wedding cakes are still a popular choice, but non-traditional desserts are taking the stage this year. Ever since the start of the pandemic, couples have been choosing to have individual desserts, especially cupcakes. Scheel’s Catering, our in-house caterer, provides dessert menu items such as cream puffs, pastry puffs, bars, and brownies.

Eco-Friendly Choices

Sustainability has become a big topic in recent years, so many couples are opting for eco-friendly décor for their big day. Often times, a lot of paper and plastic gets used for weddings, so couples are trying to keep waste to a minimum. Instead of plastic goodie bags filled with wrapped items, consider something long-lasting like a succulent instead. Or, reduce carbon emissions by holding the ceremony and reception at the same venue. There’s a variety of ways you can make your wedding more sustainable, so ask yourself how your choices affect the environment when planning décor, food, invites, and more.

Interactive Reception Entertainment

Creative entertainment options have been on the rise, and they depend on the season. Summer and fall weddings are a great time to offer s’mores around an outdoor firepit, for example. Photo booths or polaroid cameras are fun for guests and the newlyweds—have guests put the photos in your guestbook for unique wedding memories. If there’s a bit of time in between the wedding and when dinner is served, entertain guests with table trivia or small games like checkers.

With 2022 wedding trends in mind, it’s time to start planning! Remember, your wedding day is about you, so go with the styles you like, not just what’s popular. By keeping that in mind, we hope your wedding planning will be stress-free!
