It’s time for winter weddings! We love the styles and trends that our winter brides bring to Stillwater Event Center, and to help you prepare for your special day, we’ve gathered some popular winter wedding trends.

Lighting

Candles and twinkle lights add a touch of elegance and softness to your wedding. For the ceremony, use the candles to line the aisle, creating a warm glow. Stillwater Event Center requires all candles to be surrounded by glass, so if you choose to have candles line the aisle, consider hanging them from posts to keep them off the ground. Twinkle lights are great for both the reception and ceremony—use small bundles for your centerpieces or wrap them around your wedding arch. Simple lighting can go a long way to make your wedding feel warm and cozy!

Centerpiece

You can get really creative here! If your wedding is close to Christmas, use ornaments to surround a center candle, for example. If you love the sparkle that fresh snow has, use glittery or sparkly décor pieces to add to the centerpiece. White is a popular centerpiece to have for winter weddings, so add other pops of color around candles, flowers, or even little faux trees!

Seating cards

There are quite a few ways to utilize the winter theme for seating cards. A popular option is to use pinecones and slip the card into one of the slits. It’s a cheap option that looks adorable with the rest of your décor! And if you’re going for a Christmas theme, print the guests’ names on ornaments—you can even hang them on a tree! Meshing with the centerpiece trends, bare branches are another popular choice, and you could hang the seating ornaments on the trees at each table.

Food

Every season has foods that go well with it, such as refreshing lime bars in the summer. In the winter, it’s all about those familiar holiday foods! Our in-house caterer, Scheels Catering, offers items such as baked ham, oven roasted turkey, a variety of potatoes, and green beans that are reminiscent of Christmas dinners. For dessert, we offer classic winter tastes like cinnamon & sugar pastry puffs, premier cheesecake cranberry bars, and pecan pie tarts. Looking to add food to your wedding favors? No problem! You can easily put together small kits for smores or provide mugs with packs of hot chocolate in them. There are so many ways to incorporate the season into the food offerings.

Drinks

At weddings, guests love just about any alcohol you give them, but they’ll surely appreciate some delicious winter-themed drinks! Some classic creations include:

  • Salted Caramel White Russian
  • Mulled Wine
  • Cinnamon-Rosemary Old Fashioned
  • Pink Peppermint Cocktail
  • Hot Toddy
  • Ginger Apple Cider

With stunning décor and delicious holiday favorites, you and your guests are sure to enjoy your special day! Stillwater Event Center has been hosting weddings and special events for over 32 years.
